Scantide Guard operating-system overview
Guard is designed for mixed Windows and Linux estates. For Windows Server, the practical product range is Windows Server 2008 R2 and later, with Legacy Guard used for Server 2008 R2 SP1 and the modern Guard implementation used on newer Windows Server generations. This page separates platforms already used or targeted by Guard from platforms that still need explicit validation.

Windows Server 2008 R2 and later
Windows Server coverage: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022 and Windows Server 2025. The unified Windows installer automatically selects Legacy Guard on Server 2008 R2 SP1 and uses the modern Guard implementation on later Windows Server versions.
Windows and Linux compatibility
The status column matters. “Tested” means Guard has actually been used on that platform. “Target” means it is part of the current supported development target. “Legacy” uses the Legacy Guard implementation. “Validate” means the platform is plausible but should not yet be advertised as formally supported.

Legacy operating systems: Guard can add attack monitoring and firewall blocking to an older operating system, but it cannot make an end-of-life operating system fully secure. Unsupported Windows versions should still be isolated, patched where possible and treated as higher-risk systems.
One Windows installer
There is no separate Windows Guard, Windows Datacenter or Legacy Guard download. The unified Windows installer is used across the supported Windows family. On Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 it can install the compatible Legacy Guard implementation and Datacenter is also supported on that operating system.
Datacenter
The same Windows installer contains Datacenter for centralized enrollment, policy distribution, integrations, licensing, shared reputation and fleet visibility.
Legacy Guard
Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 is detected by the installer and receives the Legacy Guard implementation without requiring a separate download.

Windows 11 is already a useful internal-monitoring target. Windows 10 should be straightforward to validate next. Windows 7 should be treated separately as a Legacy compatibility test because both Microsoft support status and available framework/API versions matter.
Windows 11
Useful for workstation protection, internal monitoring, local software/security assessment and administrator endpoints.
Windows 10
Natural next validation target so Scantide can explicitly advertise both current Windows client generations rather than only server editions.
Windows 7
Potential Legacy Guard target, but it should remain marked as unverified until installation, service operation, Event Log collection, firewall enforcement, TLS and licensing have all been tested.
